2006 marks the 33th year of the International Feedlot Cowboy Association. These 33 years have been filled with many successful and profitable finals, enjoyed by many feedlot employees, spectators and sponsors. The first finals were held in Las Vegas and have since been held in Elko and Winneumcca, Nevada and in Garden City, Kansas. For the last seven years, finals have been in Amarillo, Texas. Our 2005 finals were a great success with over 300 contestants and over $190,000 in prizes and pay back awarded to participants. The money and prizes were awarded to feedlot employees and sponsors just like you. The Team Roping and Barrel Racing competition is exciting and rewarding to the contestants and spectators, and since our finals are held in the Amarillo National Center, which is completely air conditioned, everyone is able to enjoy the event.

To be eligible in the I.F.C.A. Finals, you must compete in a qualifying roping held in your region. There are 12 regions, making up the western half of the United States. In 2005 our 300 contestants, from 7 of these regions, represented 76 feedyards, with a combined one time capacity of 2,569,750 head of cattle. We had 13 owners, 15 managers, 12 assistant managers and an assortment of all other feedyard personnel. A qualified entrant must be an owner or manager in an active capacity or full time employee who participate on a daily basis in the feedlot as of January 1st and all other working days prior to the National Finals. For the purpose of this competition, a feedlot will be one with a minimum of 300 head of beef cattle that are fed in confined pens for at least 225 days of the year.
